Online Catalogue and Saint Joseph’s, Blackrock

The Vincentian archives have descriptions of some of our collections hosted on an online catalogue.

This means that, through digital searching, it is possible to find some material that may be available for consultation. Currently, there is catalogued historical material that can be identified for All Hallows College, Drumcondra, and Saint Joseph’s, Blackrock. The Vincentians no longer have a presence in either of these.

There is also background information on archival collections regarding other Vincentian houses and projects, but these may not be online in as much detail as the others yet. In time, more information will be available digitally, to help with academic or family history research. There is a lot of important and interesting social history to be found in religious archives.

The Vincentian online archival catalogue can be found here:

As mentioned above, the Vincentians had a house and seminary at Saint Joseph’s, Blackrock, shown in the photograph here, which is also to be seen on the catalogue website. Prospect House (on the right) was built circa 1750. It was run by a Protestant minister, before being purchased for training Catholic priests in 1873. The building on the left was built by the Vincentians in 1887 and demolished after the sale of the site in 1977.
